Eggs and Cholesterol

I have 2 reasons for todays comments. First is that you will see that many famous websites for Health information are wrong and the second is to show how you need to be careful when you read studies . So for years I was confused as to what to tell people about eggs and cholesterol. I saw studies that showed that eggs had no effect on your cholesterol and other studies where they seemed to increase your cholesterol . So who was right ? They both were. It turns out another scientist did the best study. What he found was that if you already consumed a certain amount of cholesterol in your diet, then eating more did not increase it anymore. So the studies where they said eggs had no effect, was correct only because those people had already consumed the maximum amount that their bodies could absorb. Then when they looked at people who did not eat the maximum amount of cholesterol or any at all, like vegans, they found that eggs did raise cholesterol. I was looking at the Mayo clinic website, which I believe is an overall excellent source of medical information, what did they say about eggs ? They said that eggs had no effect on cholesterol. So even good sites can be wrong. Also I would be skeptical of any medical site discussing nutrition, if the authors have not had substantial training in nutrition beyond what they would get in a typical medical school or residency program. As of a couple of years ago, there was only 1 medical school in the US that actually provided the recommended amount of information on nutrition. Also , since most nutritionists get wrong information in their studies, I would not use them as a reliable source either.
