Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

I will probably add more here as time goes on, but this is one of the most common chronic diseases with devastating effects for the population of the USA and the world. It is increasing at a remarkable rate. Not just in adults but now in children too , where we almost never saw it in the past. The primary culprit is our high fat, highly processed animal based diet. However, this is almost 100 % curable with a low fat WFPD.. There are numerous studies that confirm this. But unfortunately a lot of the information that patients get from the dietitian and or physician that they see are incorrect .

  1. The NIH ( National Institute of Health ) compared the diet recommended by the American Diabetic Association to the low fat WFPBD. All of the parameters for measuring lipids ( the fats that lead to heart disease , cancers etc ) and glucose were at least 2 times better on the WFPBD then the diabetic association recommended diet.

  2. You might think that the above is due to weight loss ( which does help type 2 DM ) However, the weight loss was similar in the 2 groups above. Also they did a study on normal weight or slim type 2 Diabetics and the WFPBD still worked well for them and allowed them to decrease their medications by at least 1/2. So weight loss is not the only reason for improvement. See the microbiome.

  3. Be careful and follow up closely with your doctor if you decide to try this diet. In as little as 10 days or less, many diabetics can significantly decrease their medications or need to stop them completely .

  4. Number one killer of Diabetics is cardiovascular disease, which is reversed if one stays on the diet. ( Pritikin who had over 90 % blockage of his coronary arteries in his 40’s and switched to this type of diet, was found to have no blockage at the time of his death from Lymphoma. )
