Weight Loss
1.” The fat you eat is the fat you wear. “ to quote Dr. McDougall
2. If you consume excess calories from animal products, it only takes 3% of those calories to convert the fat you eat into fat on your body. So an extra 1000 calories of fat would result in an extra 970 calories of fat on your body. If you consume the same extra 1000 calories of fat from plant products, it takes 30 % of those calories to turn it into fat. So you would get 700 calories of extra body fat, almost 300 less than from eating too much animal products. Plus animal products are higher in saturated fat than plants and only animal products have cholesterol. Both of these are bad for our overall health and longevity.
3. A KIWI study on weight loss where no exercise was required and there was no limitation on the amount of food on a WFPBD that the study participants ate demonstrated the following: The average weight loss was 25 lbs, they had significant decreases in their cholesterol levels and their type 2 Diabetes improved dramatically. This is the only diet to show significant weight loss without restricting amount you eat and not requring exercise
4. Smoking increases temporarily a person’s metabolism by 10 % which is why a lot of models smoke. But a WFPBD raises your metabolism by 18 %. Which would you rather do for your longterm health ?
5. When all types of eating patterns are reviewed : ie omnivores or meat eaters and dairy: pescaterians a person who does not eat meat, but eats fish :ovolactovegetarians - don’t eat meat, but eat eggs and dairy :vegetarians and vegans - no meat, no fish, no dairy. Only vegans as a group are not overweight.
6. US population- 2/3 overweight and 1/3 obese and getting worse daily , as is most of the world that is switching to the typical American diet
7. Satiety is partially based on how full your stomach is. So compare 500 calories of different foods and how they fill up the stomach If you don’t stretch the average human stomach out.
butter - only a little bit of the stomach
meat and cheese - about 1/3 of the stomach
rice - almost full stomach
corn - full stomach
potatoes - can’t fit 500 calories in without stretching out the stomach
8. Almost everyone loses weight without restrictions on food consumed as long as they follow the proper cooking and food plan. This means 70 % calories from starches, 20 % from green and yellow vegetables and 10 % from fruits. Remember starches are potatoes, rice, beans, peas, lentils , corn and whole grains. Who doesn’t like mashed potatoes and gravy, shepherd’s pie, Thai food ( I like spicy ), pancakes, chili, pasta , etc. I have recipes for almost any ethnic group. So if you are interested in any particular type of recipe let me know and I will try to post ones that you would enjoy.
